After various news items on a leaked trailer (below), Capcom has officially announced Dead Rising 2 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. The game is being developed by Canadian developer Blue Castle Games. Blue Castle will receive help from a few members of the original Dead Rising’s development team.

Dead Rising 2 is set in Fortune City and takes place a number of years after the original. It boasts that there will now be “tens of thousands of zombies” and much more to do.

“Dead Rising 2 is set several years after the infamous zombie invasion of Willamette. Unfortunately, the zombie virus was not contained at the conclusion of Dead Rising, spreading unchecked throughout the United States and Dead Rising 2 depicts a country where zombie outbreaks continue to strike.”
