It is always hard to see a game developer shut their doors, but even harder when it is one that has been known very well throughout the last decade, and one currently working on a new project. 3D Realms has unfortunately decided to close its doors after 22 years of development, which also means the limbo-placement on Duke Nukem Forever. In a statement on the official site the developer said:
“Thanks for being fans and for all your support.”
3D Realms brought us the trash-talking, no BS Duke Nukem and published games like Rockstar and Remedy’s Max Payne. These hard times are tough on everybody, we wish the best of luck to the team, hopefully their talents in the industry can be utilized elsewhere. Who knows, maybe Duke Nukem will show his face again someday.
