As K-Mart and Sears leaked this morning, the PS3 slim is indeed a reality. Just announced at Gamescon in Germany, the new slim version boasts a 120GB HD and is 33% smaller and 36% lighter. The slim is set to debut the first week of September at a retail cost of $299. The only downside to this new slim version is still no backwards compatibility support for your PS2 games. Also announced is the 3.0 firmware update that adds some fun new features. What’s new (via Joystiq) after the jump.
