We brought you news a while back that a new map pack for Killzone 2 had been officially unveiled, the “Steel & Titanium” pack will contain two new maps for your playing pleasure. We now (via PS Blog) we can tell you that the pack will be priced at $5.99 and will debut next week, April 30th. To help you decide if the maps are worth it Sony has released a map pack trailer, enjoy.
Killzone 2 Steel & Titanium DLC Maps Coming April 30th
Playstation Blog has the details on the launch date for the first round of Killzone 2 DLC. The pack labeled “Steel and Titanium” will hit the PSN on April 30th. The pack contains two new multiplayer maps for Killzone 2. The first map, Wasteland Bullet, takes place on a transport train such as the one you played on in the single player campaign and will contain environmental obstacles that will result in instant death. The second map is called Vekta Cruiser and is an indoor map on a ship.
Price is still yet to be determined, but the maps look like a great addition to the Killzone 2 library. Might want to get those credit cards ready for the 30th; now if they would just increase the level cap…
Killzone 2 Ad Coming to a TV Near You, Playable in March
Playstation Blog just dropped the details of a Killzone 2 ad campaign starting tomorrow on several networks. It is always good when games get ads on TV because it gets more people interested in the game, and with Killzone’s ad being entirely in engine, it should raise some eyebrows. The first ad is shown below.
The very cool thing about the ad is that coming in March you will have a chance to play the ad. Yes you heard right, play the ad in real time while hearing director commentary.
“At the risk of stating the obvious – the Killzone 2 engine is phenomenally powerful. To offer you some insight into the technology behind this game, we will release a playable version of this in-engine ad vignette on the PlayStation Network coming in March. You’ll be able to control the camera and hear director commentary on how the production was completed using only the game’s technology. The project codename is “Killzone in 4-D” – hope you can check it out.”

Killzone 2 Demo Impressions
Welcome to GPU demo impressions. For these demo impressions (as well as reviews that are TBA) we like to give you all a background on what type of gamer we are. That way if we have something in an impression or review that differs from what you think; it may very well be because we are fairly new to the genre.
Killzone 2 is one of the most highly anticipated Playstation 3 games since the console’s launch. A system that has been seeking that first big push to knock the landslide of exclusive games down the hill has finally got a push, better yet, a straight out drop kick. The Killzone 2 demo hit Euro PSN today for everyone and USA PSN for those who pre-ordered the game at GameStop and you can believe I was one of the first waiting to download.
The demo takes you through a few firefights in two main locations. You arrive at a beach and must move up it to a warehouse where you must clear out the Helghast and wait for your teammate to unlock the door at the other side. I live on the Call of Dutys, Battlefields, and Halos. Any game with guns will get my adrenaline pumping so I was anxious to jump into Killzone after hearing that it is none less that the PS3’s second coming in the first person genre.
Be advised, these are just demo impressions and could change upon playing the full game….
