Square Enix has debuted a brand new trailer for Final Fantasy XIII with the english voice acting and the brand new theme song. The game is set to hit the U.S. this spring (out in Japan now) and looks to be one of the best in the series. The trailer features mostly CG footage, with a bit of gameplay mixed in and both look outstanding. Enjoy!
Square Enix Games Coming to Steam
Valve has just announced that Square Enix will be bringing some of their titles to Steam for download. The first title will be The Last Remnant coming on April 9th. Square is set to bring multiple titles to the service in the coming months, pricing will be announced at a later date.
“We are excited to offer the millions of Steam customers online access to Square Enix titles beginning with our major action RPG, THE LAST REMNANT,” said John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Inc. and Square Enix Ltd. “Square Enix is committed to delivering the best quality titles to PC gamers and distribution on Steam is one of the many steps we are taking to increase accessibility for fans in North America and PAL territories.”
Steam allows players to play Square’s games any time, anywhere. The games are tied to the Steam account not the PC, so users can play their games whenever they would like. Stay tuned for more information as well as pricing.
Square Enix Eying Eidos
Square Enix revealed today that they were behind the anonymous bid last month to take over UK-based Eidos, this being just another chapter in the few years of uncertainty at Eidos, the makers of the Tomb Raider and Hitman series’. GamesIndustry.biz states that Square revealed that the initial bid was GBP 84.3 Million and that the board of directors at Eidos has agreed to show the offer to the shareholders.
“The agreement involved the acquisition of Eidos by a Square Enix holding company, called SQEX Ltd, and the Final Fantasy publisher hopes that the deal will “reinforce the Square Enix Group’s position as one of the world’s leaders in interactive entertainment with a broad portfolio of market leading franchises,” according to a statement.”
No word yet from Eidos or Warner Bors. (who holds at 20% share in the company) but GI.biz expects the offer to be put to the shareholders in early March at an EGM. Stay tuned for more information.
