Ubisoft has debuted yet another teaser for Assassin’s Creed 2, and this time it confirms the release date for winter 2009. The trailer is the same style as the first but features narration this time. The game will be set during the Renaissance in Italy and places heavy emphasis on DaVinci.
“Assassin’s Creed II is the product of over two years of intensive development by the original creative team behind the Assassin’s Creed brand. In a vast open world environment, the game invites players to incarnate Ezio, a privileged young noble in Renaissance Italy who’s been betrayed by the rival ruling families of Italy. Ezio’s subsequent quest for vengeance plunges players into a captivating and epic story that offers more variety in missions, surprising and engaging new gameplay elements, diverse weapons and a profound character progression that will appeal to fans of the original Assassin’s Creed as well as entice players new to the brand.”
Assassin’s Creed 2 has been hidden away in the depths of Ubisoft and has yet to have anything remotely relating to a hint of what is to come with the series, but today a teaser site has debuted with some very strong hints as to where the game is going. The site debuts a brief teaser video that plays when you enter (shown below) that uses a Leonardo Da Vinci-style drawing to show what appears to be the same hidden blade Altair used during the first game, and finally focuses on Leonardo’s Vitruvian Man.
These hints seem to be aimed at AC2 taking place in the Renaissance era in Italy as a strong possibility. The site also mentions that the next issue of Game Informer will have more. The issue is set to release April 16th, so next week we should have the scoop on Assassin’s Creed 2.

Ubisoft has announced their next game at GDC ‘09, a real time strategy game called R.U.S.E. (first H.A.W.X. now this? What’s with the names?). The game has a cool “tabletop” feel to it as you can see in the image above. The game is being developed by Eugen Systems and is set to be available in the fiscal 2009/2010 year for the PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3.
“R.U.S.E. is a one-of-a-kind real-time strategy game that allows players to bluff their enemies to lead their nation to victory, controlling the action using views that range seamlessly from the heart of the battlefield to the full theatre of war. Players will be plunged into the action thanks to the exclusive IRISZOOMTM Engine which offers an intuitive interface that allows for smooth, rapid transitions from a birds-eye view of the entire conflict, down into the heat of the battle and vice versa.”
We look forward to hearing (and hopefully seeing) more about this interesting twist on the RTS genre, as well as if it will take advantage of the simplistic control style as Halo Wars did, in the upcoming months.
